Yellow Ribbon Project
The White Bear Lake (WBL) Lions Club regularly donates funds and volunteerism to the Yellow Ribbon Network which provides assistance to military members and families.
The Yellow Ribbon Network organizes the Welcome Home Hunt for all Minnesota military units that return from overseas. The WBL Lions are a regular Field Sponsor for the event. The City of Hugo has joined with the Minnesota National Guard to support military families in Washington County through the creation of the Yellow Ribbon Network. The Yellow Ribbon Network helps connect schools, local units of government, law enforcement, social services, churches, civic and volunteer organizations for the special needs of a military family during a deployment.
A "Welcome Home the Troops" pheasant hunt is sponsored by Wild Wings of Oneka and the Yellow Ribbon Networks of Hugo and Stillwater and includes a guided pheasant hunt, bird cleaning, a round of sporting clays, shells, delicious wild game dinner, and a commemorative Red Bull hat. Since 2010 there have been eight hunts and nearly 800 returning military members have been welcomed home in this unique way.
The WBL Lions Club proudly supports and serves this event for the Minnesota National Guard to support military families in Washington County.
